Senate Commends National Defence College On Prudence And Execution of Projects
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Defence, Senator Ahmed Lawan has commended the National Defence College (NDC) on its prudence in management of resources and timely execution of projects in the College. Distinguished Senator Lawan said the standard infrastructural development he sees at the NDC is enough to attract participants from across the globe and make the College a highly sourced institution of learning in addition to portraying the good image of the College and the country. According to him, NDC has developed infrastructures necessary to provide a conducive environment for learning as obtained in other parts of the world. He commended the Commandant for his efforts towards completion of the permanent site of the College at Piwoyi area in Abuja. He further encouraged the Commandant to sustain this effort of building projects that will aid the College towards achieving its objectives assuring that the Senate will continue to support the College and the Armed Forces of Nigeria towards discharging their constitutional roles.
The Commandant Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, in his remarks, thanked the Senate Committee members for giving the college the opportunity to host them and present brief as part of the Senate oversight function. As part of the visit, briefs were presented to the Senate Committee on ongoing and completed projects in NDC facilities. The Commandant further intimated the Senate Committee on the plan to make the College a full-fledged Defence University with faculties that will enhance research and provide solutions that will aid in the ongoing fight against insurgency and terrorism and other forms of threats to national security and development.
Rear Admiral Olotu assured the Nigerian Senate of determination to upgrade NDC both in infrastructures, curriculum, and educational standards to be able to compete favourably with their counterparts across the globe.
The visit witnessed a robust interactive session, inspection of projects including newly acquired CNG buses and newly installed CNG filling station in the college.
