FG Seeks Diversification of Economy to Facilitate Security In The Country
Federal Government has sought diversification of economy through National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy, NSTI Roadmap 2030, National Strategy for Competitiveness in Raw Material and Products Development to facilitate security in the country.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Ogbonaya Onu, represented by the Director General, Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Professor Eli Jidere Bala while delivering a lecture on the topic: Education and Human Security in Nigeria: Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in Perspective to the National Defence College, (NDC) Course 30 Participants in Abuja.
The Minister, who linked some of the causes of insecurity in the country to unemployment, corruption, imbalance development among others recommended training and re-training of men and women of the security agencies to deliver on their constitutional responsibilities.
In his closing remarks, the Deputy Commandant/Director of Studies, Major General EV Onumajuru, who lauded the efforts of the ministry, emphasized the importance of STEM in National development, therefore tasked NDC Course 30 Participants to study further the policy documents in a move to improve educational sector.
The Lecture is part of the programme for NDC Course 30 Module 4 on Science and Technology sponsored by the Directorate of Information, Communication and Technology (DICT).
