National Defence College Receives IT Equipment From ECOWAS

The National Defence College (NDC), Nigeria, has received a significant consignment of Information Technology (IT) equipment from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to enhance defence and security education in the region. The equipment was officially handed over to the Commandant of NDC, Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, during the 43rd Ordinary Meeting of the ECOWAS Committee of Chiefs of Defence Staff, hosted by Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, in Abuja. Presenting the equipment that includes interactive systems, language interpretation systems, mixers, printers, and laptop computers. ECOWAS Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security, Abdel-Fatau Musah, emphasized that the donation reflects ECOWAS’ commitment to strengthening defence training, strategic research, and capacity building among member states.

In his response, Rear Admiral Olotu expressed profound gratitude to ECOWAS, noting that the IT equipment would significantly enhance NDC’s technological infrastructure, facilitate digital learning, and improve operational efficiency in training senior military officers and security personnel across West Africa. Following the symbolic handover, the Commandant reaffirmed the College’s commitment to excellence in defence and strategic studies, highlighting the importance of regional collaboration in tackling security challenges.

“NDC remains dedicated to fostering regional cooperation, security, and development. This support from ECOWAS will greatly enhance our ability to train and equip military and security leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to address contemporary security threats,” Rear Admiral Olotu stated.
