Defence Advisor Of Uganda Pays Courtesy Visit To National Defence College
The Defence Advisor at the High Commission of the Republic of Uganda, Colonel Ogume Laki, has paid a courtesy visit to the Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC), Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, in a gesture aimed at deepening defence cooperation and bilateral relations between Uganda and Nigeria.
During the visit, Colonel Laki expressed his delight at being at the NDC and highlighted the growing importance of collaboration among African nations in defence and security training. He noted that Uganda established its own Defence College four years ago and emphasised the importance of learning from Nigeria’s experience, particularly in areas such as training exchanges and cooperation frameworks.
In response, Rear Admiral Olotu warmly welcomed Colonel Laki and provided an overview of the history and impact of the NDC, which was established in 1992 and has since trained over 2,000 officers from across Africa and other continents. He recalled the magnanimity of President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, who once served as a guest lecturer at the College, further emphasising the historic ties between both nations.
The Commandant supported the idea of college-to-college collaboration and faculty exchanges, underlining the mutual benefits such partnerships would bring.
The visit ended on a note of camaraderie and shared commitment to enhancing regional defence cooperation and professional military education.
