The Director General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr Jibril Ndace, has called for a strategic media partnership with the National Defence College (NDC), Nigeria, describing the collaboration as crucial for a successful media campaign to achieve the College’s mission.
Mr. Ndace made the appeal on Friday, December 5, 2025, during a courtesy visit to the NDC Commandant, Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed, in Abuja.
1. Media as a Vital Tool:
The DG emphasized that the media remains a vital tool for National Development, providing institutions like the NDC with a platform to project a positive image to the general public.

He asserted that adequate media coverage of the College’s activities would garner empathy and admiration from both national and international communities. Mr. Ndace assured the Commandant of VON’s readiness to deploy effective media coverage for the NDC’s events.
2. A Home Coming and Call for Mobile Media:
Recounting his personal connection, the DG referred to his visit as a “home coming,” having previously served as a Course participant’s Assistant at the College, which provided him with first-hand knowledge of the NDC’s operations.
“NDC, being the highest military institution in Nigeria, is engaged in various activities that prepare senior officers for strategic leadership, and the need for adequate media coverage of the college activities cannot be over emphasized,” he stated.
Mr. Ndace urged the College’s media department to be “mobile and strategic” in building the institution’s image to attract greater support.
3. Congratulatory Message and Tribute:
The DG also used the opportunity to congratulate Rear Admiral Ahmed on his appointment as the 22nd Commandant, calling it a strategic choice. “Your appointment is a strategic one and I have no doubt that you will take the college to greater height,” he concluded.
Mr. Ndace paid tribute to the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their immense sacrifices in protecting the nation’s integrity.
4. NDC Welcomes Partnership:
In his response, the Commandant, Rear Admiral Ahmed, thanked the DG for the visit, acknowledging Mr. Ndace’s past helpfulness in projecting the College’s image.
He affirmed that the media is a strategic tool for national development and assured the visiting DG of the NDC’s commitment to collaborate with VON and other media channels under his command.
