HMOD Reiterates FG’s Commitment to National Security; Commends NDC on Strategic Reforms
The Honourable Minister of Defence (HMOD), General Christopher Musa (rtd), has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to building a formidable national security architecture and ensuring the effective management of the nation’s defence sector. The Minister made these remarks on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, during a working visit by the Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC) Nigeria, Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed, at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters (Ship House), Abuja.

Strengthening Strategic Leadership:
General Musa described the National Defence College as a premier institution for strategic leadership training, instrumental in preparing senior military officers and their civilian counterparts for high-level responsibility. The Minister specifically lauded the College’s leadership for initiating a comprehensive Academic Curriculum Review, noting that such intellectual rigor is essential to repositioning the institution for global excellence. “The Federal Government remains dedicated to the welfare and operational readiness of the Armed Forces. Key Highlights of the Visit:
The Commandant, Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed, congratulated the Minister on his appointment, describing it as a “round peg in a round hole” for Nigeria’s defence landscape. During the briefing, the Commandant outlined several strategic milestones and ongoing projects at the College:
- Curriculum Modernization: Aligning academic programs with contemporary security challenges.
- Infrastructure Development: Construction of new accommodation blocks to improve the living standards of course participants.
- International Synergy: The establishment of a Turkish Language Centre to prepare Nigerian participants for future exchange programs and courses in Turkey.
