Germany Nominates Participants For NDC Course 25

The Republic of Germany has indicated its willingness to send its Officers for the National Defence College Course 25 later in the year. This assertion was made by the visiting German Deputy Defence Minister Dr Ralf Brauksiepe. The Honourable Minister who is in Nigeria for an official visit, said Nigeria and German relationship dated back to the time of the Colonial era and Germany is always ready to serve as Nigeria’s partner in trade and security. The Minister later delivered a lecture to Participants of NDC Course 24 on GERMAN MILITARY COOPERATION WITH AFRICA. The lecture which attracted dignitaries from Service Headquarters, Diplomatic Communities as well as Paramilitary agencies focused on issues ranging from regional conflicts, organized crime and piracy amongst others. The German Minister stated that German Military cooperation in Africa was largely drawn from two broad reasons; Consequences of Global Policies and Extreme Religious Intolerance that is prevalent in some African states.

The Commandant National Defence College, Rear Admiral SI Alade in his remarks thanked the Minister for the visit especially for the choice of National Defence College as a venue to host the historic event. The Commandant stated that “the event is in reality, historic, because the speech is being targeted not only at Nigeria but also at the whole continent of Africa. More so, that this kind of event has not taken place in recent times, the College feels highly honoured to host his Excellency, the Minister.”

The Minister paid courtesy call on the Honourable Minister of Defence Mansur Dan-Ali, Chief of Defence Staff General AG Olonisakin and the Chief of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral IE Ibas before his visit to NDC.
