President Buhari Commends The Commandant As College Graduates Participants of Course 27
The President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammadu Buhari has commended the efforts of the Commandant, National Defence College and staff for remarkable achievements in upholding the universal values of Defence Colleges around the globe. The President made the commendation recently at the college in Abuja, during the Graduation Ceremony of Participants of Course 27.
President Buhari noted that defence colleges prepare participants for military strategic leadership focusing on national security, military strategy, theatre strategy, joint planning processes, inter- agency, inter-governmental and multi-national capabilities as well as integration. The President stated that he was very pleased that NDC has steadfastly kept faith with the universal values of defence colleges, noting that after 27 years the college has stayed true to its mandate of strategic training of senior officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and Strategic Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as military officers from friendly nations.
Furthermore, the President noted the great deal of work by the management of the college to expand the infrastructural capability and facilities of the college, particularly in the permanent site at Piwoyi, to provide a conducive and amenable environment for teaching, learning and research. He added that this has been accompanied by efforts to involve a broad-based, but a curriculum that is fit-for-purpose. A curriculum that speaks to the requirements of essential knowledge, Skills and Aptitudes of millennium officers and the critical need for higher capabilities to face dynamic contemporary national and international security challenges. According to him, “these efforts are helping to sustain the status of the College as the foremost strategic military training institution and the flagship of military research in Nigeria”. He therefore, commended the Commandant and the staff for the remarkable achievements and added that Government will continue to support the College in its development strides, particularly the speedy completion of the permanent site.
The Graduation Ceremony was the high point of a week-long activities to mark the end of course 27. A total of 127 participants from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Airforce, Nigeria Police Force, Strategic Institutions/ Ministries, Departments and Agencies and International participants graduated from the Course. Other activities of the Graduation Ceremony were the Graduation Lecture, delivered by the Sierra-Leone President, His Excellency, Mr Julius Maada Bio, the Graduation Dinner at the college premises and the National Defence College Officers’ Wives Association Seminar held at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
