CDS Hosts NDC Commandant: Emphasizes Strategic Curriculum Update and Infrastructure Support

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, today, 12 November 2025 received the Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC), Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed, on a courtesy visit at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ). In his remarks during the visit, the Commandant congratulate the CDS on his appointment and reaffirmed the College’s unwavering commitment to supporting the strategic objectives of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN). The Commandant provided an extensive update on ongoing efforts to significantly improve the College’s infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on enhancing personnel accommodation facilities. He also highlighted the successful international partnership with the Turkish Government, which has secured sponsorship opportunities for Staff of the College DHQ personnel.

In his response, General Oluyede commended the Commandant for his leadership and underscored the pivotal role of the NDC in shaping the strategic leadership required by the AFN and contributing to national development. The CDS emphasized the necessity of updating the College’s curriculum, specifically emphasizing the integration of emerging domains such as cybersecurity and other contemporary security challenges.

General Oluyede further acknowledged the imperative to make resolute progress towards relocating the College to its permanent site. He assured the Commandant of the Defence Headquarters’ full backing in securing the necessary interventions and resources required for the timely completion of the project. Expressing confidence in Rear Admiral Abdullahi’s ability to provide effective stewardship, General Oluyede pledged to engage the Service Chiefs to ensure the continuous and sustained support for the College. He urged the Commandant to maintain the high academic and operational standards for which the NDC is recognized, striving to exceed the achievements of his predecessors.

The courtesy visit concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthen the strategic foundation of the National Defence College.
