Chinese People’s Liberation Army Delegates Visit National Defence College Nigeria, Seek For Collaboration
A team from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has paid a working visit to the National Defence College Nigeria (NDC) in Abuja. The Team Leader and Deputy Superintendent, PLA Dalian Naval Academy, Senior Captain Song Hui, said the visit is aimed at exploring areas of cooperation and a better understanding of training and military education. He added that the team comprises of officers from the Chinese Naval Academy and Naval Aviation University who are in Nigeria to exchange ideas with their counterparts aimed at fostering robust relationship and training assistance between Nigerian and Chinese militaries. He specifically mentioned that Chinese Naval Academy trains middle level officers in maritime operations, which he also said is a prerequisite for qualifying to attend the PLA National Defence University.
Senior Captain Hui thanked the Commandant NDC for providing the needed leadership in NDC Nigeria towards meeting the college objectives of training strategic leaders for officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces and international counterparts. He assured of the readiness of PLA to partner with NDC in areas that will be of benefit to both countries.
In his remarks, the Commandant NDC, Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, said such visits provide opportunity for mutual interaction and robust exchange of ideas between leaderships of strategic institutions like the NDC and the PLA. He added that NDC as the highest military training institution in Nigeria provides the needed leadership education for senior officers and their civilian counterparts.
Admiral Olotu further mentioned the existence of the Centre for Strategic Research and Studies (CSRS), which serves as the College’s think tank that provides solutions to requisite research work for participants in addition to courses on Peace Support Operations and other areas of interest to national, regional and international bodies.
