COAS Hails AANDEC’s Strategic Leadership and Mentorship
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has commended the leadership of the Alumni Association of the National Defence College (AANDEC) for its pivotal role in providing strategic leadership and mentorship to its members and the wider security community. The COAS gave this commendation recently in Abuja during a courtesy call by the Association’s leadership.

AANDEC as a Strategic Think Tank.
Lieutenant General Shaibu noted that since its establishment, AANDEC has served as a vital platform for healthy intellectual exchange and suggestions, significantly complementing the Federal Government’s efforts in the ongoing fight against criminalities across the nation. He specifically highlighted AANDEC’s function as a strategic think tank whose policies support Nigerian Army operations against terrorism and insurgency. “Your Association has provided leadership and mentorship to the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Security Agencies, Ministries, and Departments, which has enhanced our operations across the country,” the COAS stated.
The COAS assured the delegation of the Nigerian Army’s continued commitment to collaboration, particularly in the areas of information sharing and providing opinions to improve the campaign against criminalities. “Your strategic foresight is unavoidable, and we will continue to support you in all your activities,” he concluded.
AANDEC Seeks Enhanced Collaboration.
Earlier in his remarks, the President of AANDEC, Rear Admiral Ndidi Patrick Agholor (rtd), thanked the COAS for sparing time from his tight schedule to receive the delegation. He commended Lieutenant General Shaibu on the recent operational successes recorded by the Nigerian Army and congratulated him on his appointment and elevation to the rank of Lieutenant General. Rear Admiral Agholor explained that a primary purpose of the visit was to seek collaboration and support. He assured the Army Chief of the Association’s desire to contribute in any capacity that would enhance the success of the Nigerian Army and ultimately bolster national security.
The AANDEC President also revealed that the Association has published journals and books designed to enhance Nigerian Army operations, underscoring its commitment to promoting values and consultancy for the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
The President was accompanied by key officials of the Association, including the Ex-Officio, Major General EE Bassey; the Vice President, Commodore A Kpou (rtd); the National Secretary, Air Commodore EO Ohanele (rtd); the National Auditor, DCM V Nwokolo; and the Assistant Director, Protocol, Mrs Ocheja Elizabeth.
The visit’s highpoint included an interactive session, the signing of the visitor’s book, the exchange of souvenirs, and a group photograph.
