Nasarawa State Governor Delivers Lecture At The National Defence College…. Advocates Strengthening Institutions And Good Governance For National Growth
The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has called for the strengthening of institutions and quality strategic leadership to promote national integration, national development, and growth. Governor Sule stated this while delivering a lecture to participants of Course 33, National Defence College in Abuja.
Speaking during the lecture titled “Strategic Leadership, My Experience” Engr Sule describes strategic leadership as a core value towards providing leadership at the highest policy making level and impacting on the lives of people, adding that such kinds of leadership require effective thinking, planning and execution. He maintained that efforts must be made to promote multiculturalism through effective leadership and policies that could address the economic disparity among citizens.
According to the Governor, by fostering trust, understanding, and sense of learning, the nation can work together to overcome challenges and secure a brighter future for everyone. The Governor also said citizens must be given equal opportunities to explore social, political, and economic fronts in life in order to have a peaceful society. “We have to also apply the non-kinetic measures, considering the social, political, and economic dimensions of winning wars,” he said. In this regard, the Governor suggests the need to address the root causes of some of these security challenges, which are not limited to endemic poverty, environmental degradation, and increasing infrastructural deficit. “Most importantly, national integration is key. We must strengthen our institutions through the application of strategic leadership. Without effective national unity, national security, and national cohesion, we will continue to slow down in the area of development and growth. We have to come together and work together as the government alone cannot solve all the problems,” Governor Abdullahi Sule emphasised.
He further called on Nigerian citizens to play a pivotal role in addressing the national security challenges currently confronting the country through information sharing, advocacy, and community support. The Nasarawa Chief Executive also shared his personal experiences from school days, business life up to his present position as Governor, where he attributes most successes to strategic thinking, good teamwork, cooperation, and determination.
In his remarks, the Commandant of National Defence College, Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, commended the governor for his in-depth analysis of the nation’s challenges proffering solutions describing the lecture as a masterpiece. The Commandant calls on the participants to draw lessons from the Governor ‘s lecture and apply in their various beats as future strategic leaders.
