National Defence College Clinches Third Place In Cybersecurity Hackathon Competition
The National Defence College (NDC), Nigeria, has secured third place in the just-concluded Cybersecurity Hackathon Competition held at the Abuja Continental Hotel during the Nigeria Cybersecurity Conference 2025.
Receiving the award on behalf of the College, the Commandant, Rear Admiral James Ohimai Okosun, congratulated the NDC team for bringing pride and honour to the institution. He attributed the success to the team’s dedication, innovation, and unwavering commitment to advancing cybersecurity awareness.
Rear Admiral Okosun further stated that the achievement was a testament to the Cyber Department’s pursuit of excellence in promoting cybersecurity within the College. He urged the team to apply the knowledge and innovations acquired during the conference to strengthen the College’s cyber defence framework and mitigate emerging threats in the evolving cybersecurity landscape.
While presenting the award, the team leader, Mr. Muhammad Bello Kusharki, disclosed that over 200 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) participated in the highly competitive event. He noted that the competition was sponsored by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), with the primary aim of fostering capacity development and enhancing collaboration among key cybersecurity stakeholders.
Mr. Kusharki expressed appreciation to the Commandant for his continuous support to the ICT Department and reaffirmed the team’s commitment to improving cybersecurity awareness and resilience within the College.
Other team members include Adeyanju Reuben and Annas Jonathan Dinju, both members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving at NDC, and Stella Leo Danjuma, who was specially recognised as the only female participant in the competition.
The award presentation was witnessed by the Director of Information and Communication Technology, Air Commodore Ayodele Famuyiwa, and the Director of Administration, Commodore Mayowa Olukoya.
