National Defence College Nigeria Hosts National Defence University – USA – Partner For Professional Military Education
A delegation from National Defence University, United States was at the National Defence College, Abuja were interactions and engagements were made towards enhancing higher military training and education. The delegation led by General Thomos Waldhauser received presentations and interacted with staff and participants of NDC on Regional Security and Nigeria-USA Security Cooperation.
The leader of the delegation said they are in the College as part of the University’s world study tour to interact, learn and share ideas on matters relating to curriculum development, cultural affiliation and collaboration. He added that NDC Nigeria with its rich curriculum and participants from different countries of the world is an attractive place for such engagements.
The General further said that the visit will afford him and his team opportunity to brainstorm in the area of capacity development that will enhance effective learning between the two countries. General Walshauser commended the Commandant, NDC Rear Admiral OM Olotu for providing dynamic leadership for NDC Nigeria that evidently advances not only the quality of higher military education but also boosted military partnership and collaboration between Nigeria and other countries including the United Stated. “Military relationships play a vital role in friendship and collaboration among countries. The US Armed Forces and Nigerian Armed Forces have maintained a strong relationship which has dovetailed to excellent collaboration and cooperation in many areas between the two countries, and this is commendable,” Gen Waldhauser said.
In his remarks, the Commandant, Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu emphasized the importance of developing adaptive solutions to address the challenges posed by the ever-changing global climate. He urged the delegation not only to build alliances but also nurture and enhance relationships through collaborative efforts and mutual learning. Admiral Olotu expressed optimism that the engagement with the NDU-USA will foster a fruitful partnership where both the National Defence College and its American counterpart can benefit from each other.
