NDC, TETFUND Forge Strategic Partnership on Education and AI Curriculum
The National Defence College (NDC) Nigeria and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) officially cemented a strategic partnership today, Tuesday, December 2, 2025, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the TETFUND Headquarters in Abuja.

The core objective of the MoU is to reinforce the strategic collaboration between the two critical institutions, highlighting TETFUND’s essential role in national development and the sustainability of higher education across Nigeria. Focus on Curriculum Development and Capacity Building. The strategic alliance is expected to significantly impact the NDC’s academic programs. The Commandant, Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed, stated that the MoU’s implementation will facilitate the review and enhancement of the College’s curriculum, with a particular focus on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and strengthening capacity building initiatives.
Rear Admiral Ahmed expressed profound gratitude for TETFUND’s extensive contributions to infrastructural development, research funding, and capacity building in educational institutions nationwide, acknowledging the Fund as “integral to infrastructural growth.” He reiterated NDC’s unwavering commitment to its founding principles and high training standards since its establishment in 1992.
Responding to the Commandant, the TETFUND Executive Secretary, Architect Sonny Sylva Echono, congratulated Rear Admiral Ahmed on his appointment and acknowledged the crucial role of NDC in strategic leadership training for the nation. Architect Echono specifically recognized the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces and affirmed TETFUND’s dedication to supporting military education. He expressed a willingness to back the College’s research efforts and pledged to advocate for essential facilities necessary to create a conducive learning environment for the nation’s future strategic leaders. The signing and subsequent discussions marked a promising and collaborative step, reflecting both institutions’ commitment to advancing military education and national development.
The NDC delegation accompanying the Commandant included the Deputy Commandant, Major General KO Ukandu, the College Secretary, AVM Ernest E Owai, the Provost Centre for Strategic Research and Studies, Prof AO Ahmed, the Director Academic Research and Analytical Support, Cdre RO Adoki and the College Public Relations Officer, Cdr AO Segun.
The event concluded with the traditional exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph.
