President Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Visits National Defence College
The National Defence College (NDC) will partner with the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) in the area of Human Resources Development. NDC Commandant, Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu stated this when he received the Management Team of the Institute who paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja. Rear Admiral Olotu emphasized the importance of partnership and collaboration with reputable bodies such as the CIPM which he said will afford Human Resource officers of the College opportunity to be certified as professionals for effective human management.
Admiral Olotu assured the visiting management team of the readiness of NDC to key into the mission of CISM which is aimed at empowering members, developing capacity and promoting human resources management. He further appealed to the team to consider organising a physical training for officers and civilian staff of the College who have shown interest to be inducted as members of the Institute. “We are very delighted to have your management team on a visit to NDC. This is a great opportunity for us to interact with you on areas of partnership and training of our Human Resource personnel and induct them into your professional body,” the Commandant said.
Earlier in his remarks, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of CIPM, Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir thanked the Commandant for the warm reception accorded to him and his team. Gobir said he was in the College to discuss areas of partnership and collaboration between the Institute and NDC especially in recognition of the College efforts in shaping strategic leaders. He described human resource development as a backbone of every institution especially towards providing smooth administration and operations. The President added that professionalising Human Resource Management will attract capacity building, collaboration and efficiency which will enhance the duties of personnel and their managers.
