Zamfara State Governor Commends National Defence College on Strategic Leadership Training

The Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dr Dauda Lawal Dare has commended the National Defence College Nigeria for providing strategic leadership training for officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Security Agencies as well as Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Governments that will enhance operations and other constitutional duties. The Governor gave this commendation when he visited the Commandant NDC, Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Morakinwo Olotu in his office at Abuja. The Governor extolled the NDC leadership for providing conducive environment of learning for scholars of strategic leadership training in the country and even beyond which he said will equip participants with requisite knowledge that will enhance their various duties.

Governor Lawal assured the Commandant of sending senior staff of the State to attend strategic courses on governance, leadership and other important areas, including how to harness State resources for development. “We will make use of the opportunity provided by this institution to train our staff on areas of strategic leadership that will enhance their services to the Zamfara State. As you are aware, Zamfara has numerous solid mineral deposits and there is need to train our staff on how to man the sector. We are ready to collaborate with NDC in the area of human development and capacity. I want to be part of the success of this institution”, the Governor said.

Rear Admiral Olotu in his welcome remarks thanked the Governor for identifying with the NDC. He revealed that the College, hitherto known as National War College was established in 1992 to train high level senior officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Security Agencies and some MDAs in Strategic Leadership. He further stated that the College since its establishment has continued to play important roles in national security issues and professional development of strategic leaders required for the Armed Forces, Para-Military institutions and selected civil organisation that supports the political leadership in the country.

The Commandant used the opportunity of the visit to aquint the Governor of some infrastructural development in the College since his assumption of office which include the installation of 5-megawatt solar energy that will power the college community as well as some upgrades in both academic programmes and infrastructure.

The Governor was accompanied on the visit by some members of Zamfara State Executive Council.
