Minister of Defence Reiterates Federal Government’s Commitment To National Security and Well-being of The Citizens
The Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has assured that the Federal Government is committed to ensuring national security and wellbeing of the citizenry. The minister disclosed this while delivering a lecture titled “Strategic Defence Management in Nigeria: Ministry of Defence in Perspective” to participants of NDC Course 32 in Abuja.
The HMOD says that the objective of Defence Management is for the Government to control, coordinate and manage resources in the Defence sector to help provide appropriate and sustainable mechanisms as well as support the system and infrastructure to meet national objectives for the defence of the country. He added that the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the MOD under his watch is committed to effective management of the Defence sector and surmounting the security challenges in the country to ensure peace and development in the country.
The minister added that ensuring the maintenance of combat readiness of Armed Forces personnel on land, sea, air and maintaining a proper balance in arms and personnel to meet the needs of internal and external security is a key responsibility of the MOD. He expresses the Government and Ministry’s seriousness in meeting up the needs, provisions and welfare of the Armed Forces to effectively discharge its constitutional role.
The Commandant National Defence College, Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu in his remarks appreciated the Hounourable Minister for the lecture and for always providing the enabling environment and resources needed for the Armed Forces to discharge its responsibilities. He urges the participants utilise the lessons and teachings from the lecture.
