Commandant National Defence College Charges Senior Officers On Effective Policy Formulation Analysis And Implementation
The Commandant National Defence College Nigeria (NDC), Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu has charged participants of NDC Course 33 and other participants on the need to adhere strictly to the guidelines for effective policy implementation in their various Services and agencies. The Commandant made this call at the closing ceremony of the Policy Formulation Analysis and Implementation Capstone Course held at NDC.
Rear Admiral Olotu hinted that the Policy Capstone Course is one of the critical components of the NDC programme designed to equip participants and commanders and senior officials in sister Services and strategic government agencies with requisite knowledge on policy implementation adding that such skills and knowledge are necessary to analyse and develop effective policy and implementation that will enhance national security and defence of the country. He urged the participants to always think critically and strategically about policy issues and develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
The Admiral added that the 5-day course highlighted the importance of effective policy formulation, analysis, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation aimed at addressing the complex challenges of the nation. He also emphasised the need for collaboration, coordination, and communication among stakeholders in the policy making process. He extolled the resource persons for delivering lectures on various topics during the programme and commended the participants for what he observed as active engagements during the interactive and practical sessions of the course. The Commandant then called on the participants to take the knowledge, skills, and networks gained during the course back to their respective Services and agencies for application and practice.
Admiral Olotu thanked the Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, Heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies for sending participants for the Policy Formulation and Implementation Course. Highlights of the ceremony were the presentation of certificates to participants, among others.
