Commandant NDC Charges Experts On Emerging Cyber Security Threats In Nigeria

The Commandant, National Defence College, Rear Admiral OM Olotu has charged cyber security experts on emerging cyber security threats that can endanger the economic growth and National Security of the Country. The Commandant gave this charge today while declaring open the Hands-on Training on Cyber Security and Digital Forensics held at Abacha Hall of the NDC in Abuja.

Admiral Olotu says that cyberattack is becoming more daring and if not checked could constitute a serious threat to development of the country emphasising that the cyber space has potentials to support national development and improvement in National Security. The Commandant further stated that the Hands – on training is part of the College efforts to enhance the capacity of cyber experts and other stakeholders in the field of cyber security in which experts from various backgrounds could share their knowledge and experiences in the field.

He encouraged the participants to take advantage of the opportunity in order to learn and share their own experiences for the benefits of all. Introducing the programme, the Chief Executive officer, Bara Tech Limited, Mr David Offiong said the training will cover areas of interest in cyber security and not limited to guiding of participants on the Ecosystem of public Workspace, practical use of key loggers, monitoring tools, exploring cyber threats and their indicators as well as understanding the concept of networking.

The week-long training which attracts participants from military and various security agencies is expected to cover aspects of cyber security including threat assessment, incident response and cybersecurity strategy.
