National Defence College Graduates 111 Participants Of Course 32
The National Defence College of Nigeria (NDC) has graduated 111 participants of Course 32 in Abuja. The Special Guest of Honour at the event, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was represented by His Excellency, the Vice-President, Senator Kashim Shetima commended the Armed Forces of Nigeria for remarkable achievements in protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity, and securing the lives and properties of our citizens and assured that the Federal Government is ready to continue supporting the Armed Forces to achieve their constitutional roles.
The President congratulated the Commandant and management team of the NDC for their tireless efforts in grooming the participants to completion of the Course which he said is a testimony to the College’s commitment to excellence. “I commend you for your unwavering commitment to your profession. You left your family behind for months to pursue this course which you have all completed with honour. Receiving award of fellow of Defence College from this prestigious institution is indeed a thing of immense pride and accomplishment. I am also delighted to see many military officers from Africa, Asia, Europe and South America.
I hope you are all enjoying your stay in Nigeria and make friends during your stay. Please maintain your close contact with those friends as you return to your home countries,” the SGoH said. He further stated that the ceremony is the 32nd in the College’s honours which according to him enriched the College reputation as a Centre of Excellence geared towards sustainable solutions to national and international security challenges. “We must work together to build a brighter future for our nation, and we will do it now. I do not doubt that the graduands will apply their knowledge, expertise and skill acquired during the course to find solutions to our security challenges. As we gather today, we will combine the importance of strategic leadership in addressing the complex security facing our nation.”
He regretted that Nigeria has faced series of security challenges that affect the socio-economic development in the country and avers that as a government, the administration is sensitive to people’s needs and will continue to actively intervene in matters that benefit the citizens. The President added that recently, the Federal Government has made significant strides in addressing some of these challenges. “We have implemented a new national minimum wage, which will benefit not only civilian workers but also personnel of the Nigerian armed forces and other security agencies. We are also working tirelessly to counter the menace of crude oil theft and pipeline vandalization. He assures that the Armed Forces and other security agencies will continue to counter the menace of crude oil theft, and the Government will also be committed to creating an innovative business model that encourages value addition in economic sectors for national development.”
The President thanked the graduands for their recommendations in their research paper which he said has provided strategic options for harnessing the mining industry in Nigeria to enhance national security and development. In his welcome address, the Commandant NDC Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu emphasized the College’s focus on developing critical and strategic thinking abilities and expressed confidence that the graduands will create positive changes in their respective organizations and nations. Dignitaries that graced the occasion include members of the National Assembly, Members of the Federal Executive Council, Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, members of Diplomatic Corps, His Royal Majesty, Royal fathers, Presidents of various Officers Wives Association and families of the graduands among others.
Highpoint of the event was the presentation of awards to the graduating participants, awards of Fellow of Defence College by the Commandant and group photograph.
