NDC Commandant Pays Courtesy Visit to Former Head of State Gen Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida GCFR
The Commandant National Defence College, Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed, paid a courtesy visit to former Head of State Gen Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, GCFR, at his residence in Minna on Thursday, 21 May 2026.
During the visit, the Commandant expressed the College’s appreciation to Gen Babangida for his vision and enduring support towards the establishment and growth of the National Defence College. The Commandant highlighted that the College, now in its 34th year, has trained over 3,000 senior officers drawn from the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as allied foreign countries, thereby consolidating its position as a regional centre of excellence in strategic studies and professional military education.

In his remarks, former President Babangida stated that the establishment of the College was aimed at producing strategic leaders capable of addressing complex national security challenges. He commended the leadership of the College for sustaining its mandate and advancing its institutional development. The former President also urged the College to incorporate Artificial Intelligence studies into its curriculum to prepare future strategic leaders for emerging technological realities in security and warfare.
The visit concluded with the presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph.
