National Defence College Inaugurates Participants of Course 33
The National Defence College Nigeria (NDC) today Monday 7 October 2024 inaugurates participants of NDC Course 33 at Abacha Hall of the College in Abuja. In his Inaugural Speech, the Commandant, Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu welcomed the participants and charged them to adhere strictly to the Mission of the College which is to “Develop future leaders sufficiently equipped with the requisite knowledge and analytical skills necessary to harness the instruments of national power in a dynamic defence and security environment.” He added that beyond the Higher Defence and Strategic Studies Course offered by the College, the Centre for Strategic Research and Studies of the College also offers other professional training programmes with recognition from African Union and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Admiral Olotu congratulates the 94 participants on their nomination by various Services, Ministries, Departments, Agencies and countries and urged them to use the opportunity to prepare themselves for higher responsibilities in their various organisations and countries.
He further enjoined them on the need to maintain healthy living while pursuing their academic activities. The Commandant reveals that the College since its inception in 1992 has trained several senior officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Nigerian Police Force, security agencies and strategic ministries, departments and senior officers from friendly nations. Breakdown of the participants include 55 senior officers from the Armed Forces of Nigeria, 20 from the NPF, Para Military and strategic MDAs as well as 19 international participants.
Highpoint of the event was unveiling of the theme for NDC Course 33 which is “Strengthening Institutions for National Security and Development”
