Strategic Leadership: NDC Commandant Pays Courtesy Visit to Former President Olusegun Obasanjo at ABEOKUTA
In a high-level engagement aimed at bridging institutional military education with veteran statesmanship, the Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC) led a high-powered delegation on a courtesy visit to former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta. The visit served as a strategic interface between the nation’s premier military training institution and one of Africa’s most seasoned diplomatic and military leaders.
During the meeting, the Commandant expressed his profound gratitude to His Excellency for hosting the delegation. He provided a comprehensive briefing on the NDC’s current mandate, evolving roles and ongoing initiatives aimed at bolstering national security.

The Commandant emphasized that the primary objective of the visit was to tap into the former President’s “wealth of leadership experience and unparalleled strategic insight” regarding national development and the complexities of regional security.
Responding to the delegation, General Obasanjo shared reflective wisdom on the qualities required to lead in modern times. He identified three critical attributes that must define every effective leader:

Following the formal discussions, the delegation was led on a guided tour by Mr. Vitalis, Managing Director of the OOPL Foundation. The tour showcased the Library’s world-class facilities and its significance as an educational landmark in Nigeria.
