Provost AFRIT Calls for Investment In Research and Development to Promote Enhanced Human Security In Nigeria
The Provost, Air Force Institutes of Technology (AFIT) Kaduna, Professor (Engr) Mohammad Dauda has called for investment in Research and Development (R&D) through funding as essential to engendering Science and Technology for enhanced human security in Nigeria.
He made the call while presenting a Seminar paper on the topic Science Technology and Human Security: The Whole of Society Approach, to the National Defence College (NDC) Course 30 Participants in Abuja. Professor Dauda also highlighted Nigeria’s major obstacles to globally acceptable human security standard as slow industrial and technological advancement, poor economic and political development; poor quality of health care, as well as, poor standard of education among others.
While reacting, NDC Commandant, Rear Admiral OB Daji, who reiterated the importance of science and technology in the area of innovations, commended the lead presenter and the discussants on the seminar paper. He however, promised to forward the recommendations of the seminar to the appropriate quarters for necessary action.
