Rejig Nigeria’s Foreign Policy for Effective Leadership In Africa – Says Professor Fawole
A senior lecturer, Professor Alade Fawole, from Department of International Relations, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, has called on Federal Government to rejig Nigerians’ foreign policy to provide effective leadership in Africa. He made the call during a paper presentation at the National Defense College (NDC) Seminar titled: Reinventing Nigeria’s Leadership Role in Africa: The imperative for Diplomacy and cooperation to the NDC Course 30 participants in Abuja.
According to him, Nigeria cannot afford to abandon championing African causes in spite of challenges in the land but needed to display effective leadership in the sub region. In his welcome address, the NDC Commandant, Rear Admiral MM Bashir, represented by the Deputy Commandant/Director of Studies, Major General VO Onumajuru, who welcomed the resource persons, said the seminar theme: Human Security and International Relations was apt going by the current insecurity challenges in Nigeria.
The program was part of NDC Course 30 module 5 Seminar on International Affairs and Regional studies with discussants in the person of Professor Sherrif Ghali Ibrahim, Department of Political Science and International Relations, University of Abuja and Professor Chigozie Enmere, Department of Political Science and International Relations, Nigerian Turkish Nile University, Abuja, while NDC Director of National and Geo-Political Affairs, DNGA, Ambassador Olusola was the Moderator.
