ECOWAS Hampers On Jointness and Synergy Among Training Institutions
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has hampered on improved collaboration and Synergy among the regional training institutions. The Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security (CPAPS) of ECOWAS Commission, Ambassador Abdel-Fatau Musah stated during the meeting of the ECOWAS Heads of Training Institutions held at the National Defence College Abuja.
According to him, the collaboration will enhance brainstorming and sharing of information and ideas that will improve peace and stability in the region in addition to operationalisation of the ECOWAS standby force. He commended Heads of the training institutions for adhering to ECOWAS mandate through development of programmes that will entrench stability in the region. The CPAP described event as a bi-annual meeting coordinated by the Directorate of Peace Keeping and Regional Security (DPKRS) to enhance technical and operational cooperation between ECOWAS and TCEs to support training, capacity building and research among other issues.
The Commandant NDC, Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu in his Welcome Address said the meeting is a platform which provides opportunity for brainstorming and healthy interactions where vital issues that will reposition training institutions in the ECOWAS sub region will be discussed.
In attendance at the event was the Commandant of the Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Centre, Ghana, representatives of the African Union, ECOWAS among others.
