NDC Holds Roundtable on Future of Peace Support Operations

In line with the desire to foster a faster, more responsive and more accountable Peacekeeping Operations as recommended in the High-level Independent Panel on Peace Operations (HIPPO) and the UN Secretary General’s Implementation Reports. The National Defence College Nigeria has billed to hold a roundtable on Future of Peace Support Operations: Implications for Nigeria, at the Officers’ Mess on Thursday, 28 June 2018.

 


 

The Roundtable was conceptualized on the fact that peacekeeping since its inception has remained a viable conflict management tool. More so, the observation that the changing nature and dynamism of conflicts, have become more complex in the context of threats like terrorism, maritime insecurity, trans-national organized crimes and many others.

 

The Roundtable in anticipation requires participants to come up with measures and strategies that would improve Nigeria’s engagement in Peace-Keeping Support Operation. Some of the Papers to be presented by various stakeholders at the Roundtable include, Future of PSO: Implications for Nigeria, Nigeria and the Future of African Led PSO, Prospect of Civilian Participation in PSO, Partnership and Institutional Support for PSO and many others.
