OAU Students Visit National Defence College, Abuja

 

A total of one hundred and twenty six (126) students of International Relations Department of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife visited the National Defence College, Abuja on 24 March 2014 as part of their Field Trip to the Federal Capital Territary, The visit was led by Dr Moshood Omotosho.

While welcoming the students to NDC, Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies, Maj Gen Adeniyi Oyebade admonished the students to be creative in their thinking and see what they can do for themselves. He also urged them to stay clear of crime and live a purposeful life. According to him, creativity is essential for self development and a means to achieving goals and objectives.

During the visit, the students received lecture on ‘’Armed Forces of Nigeria and International Security Operations; An Appraisal of joint Task Force Operations in North- Eastern Nigeria’’, The lecture was delivered by Brig Gen Peter Dauke and moderated by Air Cdre Noah Oyibo, both Directing Staff. The lecture enumerated the current efforts by the Nigerian Armed Forces at tackling the insurgency in the North East of the country. He said the Armed Forces is doing its best to ensure safety of life and properties and also ensure peace is returned to the area. He enjoined the public to join hands with the Armed Forces to tackle the insurgency.

The students were also taken on tour of the College facilities including the Centre for Strategic Research and Studies, the College Library and the Museum and Hall of Fame. The leader of the delegation, Dr Moshood Omotosho expressed the appreciation of the University for the Useful Knowledge made available for the students.
