A Book To Change Our World: An NDC Book Launch

The National Defence College Nigeria embarked on Strategic Leadership Biography Studies of Senior Military Officers and Civilian Personnel in the Nigerian society in 2018. The main objective of the biographies is to document for posterity defining moments in the life and times of the Senior Officers especially their professional experiences in Strategic Leadership positions. The books are to be designed as military leadership reference material for officers, future generations of military leaders as well as the wider public. The second in the Series is the Biography of Lieutenant General CI Obiakor (rtd) titled Rough Road to Peace.

Lieutenant General Chikadibia Isaac Obiakor was Assistant Secretary General, Office of Military Affairs United Nations Department of Peace Keeping Operations (UNDPKO) and Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL).

The book buttresses the complex multidimensional circumstances through which the subject, Lt Gen C.I Obiakor, arrived at the upper echelons of global military service. It captures such situations in great details and so succinctly that the reader cannot miss the illustrated trajectory to achieving peace in a conflict-ridden world. The work situates him in varying contexts of conflict in society and explores the roles he played at various tactical, operational and strategic levels in guiding and compelling people, orgarnisations and nations state to behave in ways that ensure a less conflict-ridden and more peaceful world.
