NDC Conducts National Study for Participants of Course 28

In line with its academic programme, the National Defence College (NDC) Nigeria, has successfully conducted the 2019 National Study Tour for Participants of Course 28. The National Study Tour which is an important aspect of the Study Module 2 (The State and Scio-Political Environment) of National Defence College Course 28, was conducted from 14 to 19 October 2019. The Tour had the 106 Participants of the NDC Course 28 divided into 5 teams to visit 5 states across the Country. Amongst the states visited were Bauchi, Imo, Kaduna, Kwara and Zamfara State.

The Study Tour was to acquaint participants with the understanding of the socio-political environment of Nigeria as exemplified in the various lectures and the seminar conducted in Module 2 of NCD Course 28. The theme of the Study Tour was “Harnessing SMEs in the State as a Viable Option for Economic Development.” This gave the Participants an opportunity to generate and interrogate viable ideas for harnessing the various possibilities and potentials of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) for economic development of the states visited.

Each Team of the Study Tour was received by the Governor or his representative and other top officials of the State Government. Thereafter the Teams were conducted round the State with visits to SMEs located in the State. Lectures and briefs were also presented to the participants at the SMEs visited to aid their research work.

 

The National Study Tour week programme came to an end with oral and written presentations from the 5 teams at the College Premises. In the presentations, participants examined the conditions of SMEs and identified the effect/impact of SMEs on the economic development of states visited including the challenges militating against the promotion of SMEs and their potential to contribute to the Socio-economic development of the States visited. They also examined the efforts of the State Government in addressing the challenges and their prospects amongst others. The presentations were also graced by representatives of the Governors of the states who were present at the College to witness the presentation exercise and take back observations and recommendations raised by the participants during the presentations.
