Maiden Policy Formulation Course Concludes

The maiden edition of policy formulation course was today concluded. The course caps the college teaching of policy formulation and implementation, which is an important aspect of the curriculum of the Higher Defence Management and Strategic Studies course.

The course objective was to broaden the participants’ understanding of the theories and practices for driving effective policy formulation and implementation. The course content comprised among others key policy processes such as policy initiation, analysis, formulation, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, feedback and review/termination.

The just concluded 5-day course is one of the 3 capstone courses approved recently to enhance the contribution of the college to nation building by increasing stakeholder participation and number of beneficiaries of trainings conducted by the College. The policy formulation course comprised 11 sessions, including central hall lecture delivery and syndicate room discussions and practical sessions. Resource persons were drawn from the academia and professional practitioners; prominent among who were the Chairman/CEO Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa; and Ambassador Layiwola Laseinde. Others include Prof Aja Akpuru-Aja and Yusufu Zoaka, Dr TI Sampson, Cdre A Kpou (rtd) and Air Cdre EO Ohanele (rtd). Course participants include the participants of NDC Course 31, and senior government officials from the defence and security, and other MDAs.
